There is a large range of local  cafes, restaurants and take-aways that cater for all tastes, as well as the local shops that are a short walk away.  We have a leaflet available in our reception, or it can be viewed by clicking here

Aden Country Park

Aden offers a warm welcome, beautiful surroundings, and a wide range of opportunities for relaxation and recreation for individuals, families, and groups to enjoy. Aden, often referred to as ‘the jewel in the Buchan crown’ has been recognized as one of the country’s best green spaces with a prestigious Green Flag award.

The park offers an extensive play area for all ages and abilities being fully DDA compliant, it includes a fully accessible roundabout, with swings, adventure play, seesaw and the ever popular zip slide! Even your four-legged friends are catered for with a dedicated dog exercise and agility area.  Near to the play area there are toilets that have disabled, baby changing and ‘changing places’ facilities.

Also within the park is the heritage centre with a farming museum, a reconstructed 1950’s farm, the Friends of Aden Craft shop and a café to grab a bite to eat and a delicious cup of coffee.

Throughout the park are a number of walks and trails, access to the Formartine and Buchan Way (disused railway line) and an arboretum and lake.

Formartine and Buchan Way

The pathway uses the former railway line linking Dyce, on the northern edge of Aberdeen, to the village of Maud where it splits into two routes: eastwards towards Peterhead and northwards to Fraserburgh.

The route is an impressive 53 miles in length, is entirely off road and relatively flat, however it passes trough such a varied and interesting landscape that the outlook is constantly changing and the journey is never boring.
